HowsMyGEO exists because a new kind of search invisibility appeared and almost no tool checks for it. In 2023, thousands of sites added blanket bot-blocking rules to robots.txt; many of them unknowingly blocked GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot in the process — and with AI answer engines now mediating a growing share of discovery, those sites simply don't exist to a widening slice of their audience.
Our scanner runs 21 checks against any URL: 14 traditional SEO factors and 7 GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) factors, from AI crawler access to whether your content is even present in the HTML an AI crawler receives. Every weight is published on the methodology page, and the site holds itself to its own standard — server-rendered content, an llms.txt file, and robots.txt rules that explicitly welcome the five major AI crawlers.
